Rock'n'Roll Cowboys

"My newest materpiece is of that work of art you used to love: fast train, running off rails."
-Long Way Down

BarrelBright is an alternative rock band hailing all the way from Wichita, KS. We have a pretty serious long-distance relationship with these guys, because I can’t get enough of their unique sound. They’re unlike anything I’ve ever heard, and from the rumors I get they have an amazing show with tons of great energy. They’re starting a revolution, just wait. This is a revival of an intense type of rock that I haven’t heard in a long time. The vocals send chills down my spine, the guitarists can shred one moment and form melodic riffs the next, and the bass and drums keep a beat going that has you hooked from the start.

The band is made up of James Dean on the mic, “Brazzle” on guitar and backing vocals, and Chuck Nusser on guitar, Geneva Arena on bass, and Nick Engle on drums.

Their debut album “The New West” is available on Amazon, you can order it from the link below. Have a listen, and support them if you like what you hear. You also really need to check out their merch on facebook. They have a steampunk shirt that’s totally killer.

Royalty in Knoxville? Who knew?

Royal Bangs are a local three-piece indie/experimental rock group from right here in Knoxville, Tennessee. This band consists of front man, Ryan Schaefer who plays keyboards, guitar and sings, Sam Stratton on guitar and Chris Rusk on drums. They have had quite a bit of success so far and have recently played on The Late Show with David Letterman. Billboard Magazine reports that, "this rambunctious Knoxville, Tennessee, outfit caught its break after Black Keys drummer Patrick Carney discovered the group's brand of scuzzy dance rock on Myspace." They are signed by Glassnote records and have a new album out called Flux Outside. This is one of 3 albums they have released so far. They have a ton of energy on stage and are a lot of fun to watch.

Right now, they are touring in the UK but will be back to Tennessee in September. So if you get a chance to check them out definitely don't pass it up! And if the music isn't enough to draw you in, they have cool beards too!

The Beginning

Hopefully you're clicking the "follow" button to the side, and we'll be seeing a lot more of you around here. Starting on Monday, this little blog spot is going to be booming. We're getting ready to make a statement, a little at a time.

We're going to be doing reviews on bands, venues, etc... as well as providing you with some hidden talent that we've dragged up from the darkest areas of the United States: we're talking local bands that should be hitting it big but just haven't yet.

So if you're looking for good music, or you're one of those artists striving to be discovered... We hope you stick around!

While we're preparing for opening day, we need the following from you!

Email us @ musicversusgasoline@gmail.com and tell us...
What do you want our writers to touch on? Any subject/band/artist/etc you want to read about?

Are you artistic? We're still looking for a logo! Feel free to send in designs for us to use!

Do you know of a local band that needs a little publicity? Hook us up with a link to their facebook and some music samples and we'll see if we dig it!

We're also looking for those stars of youtube. Fails are welcomed as well. We're not picky.

Thanks so much, we look forward to getting this off the ground. Words of support are welcome!
